Common Queries

What materials do I need?

The materials needed can be found under the upper right tab labeled materials. In short, the student will need their own personal instrument and rosin. It is also recommended that you purchase one of the two starter books and a music stand. I would recommend shopping at a local music store as many match Amazon pricing.

How long have you been playing?

I have been playing the violin since 2009. During that time, I participated in numerous concerts as a part of a mass orchestra. I also played along my home towns chamber orchestra. On my free time, I volunteered to play at nursing homes, and at local events.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

I will need a 24 hour notice in the case that you chose to cancel a lessons. All lessons that are cancelled after the 24 hours will be charged in full. Please contact me with any concerns regarding this policy. I would love to work with you to schedule a time that works best!

What age should I enroll my child?

Suzuki, a Japanese musician, philosopher, and educator, once believed that a child that knows their native language is fully capable of learning an instrument. With this said, a child is capable of learning an instrument as early as 5 or 6 years old. As always, exceptions can be made.

Where will the lessons take place?

Due to the lack of space at my current location, the lessons will take place in your home. However, arrangements can be made to set up lessons in a mutual meeting place such as a church or a local music store if need be.

How much do you charge for your teaching services?

I charge $40/hr, however, I would recommend starting with 30-minute lessons, which start at $25/hr.

What if I live far away?

Arrangements can be made to meet in a mutual location such as a church or a local music store, however, if you decide to host the lessons in your home, there will be an added fee to cover the expense of gas. This fee is dependent on the distance that is covered. If this applies to you, please contact me and we can further discuss the details.

Why learn an instrument?

Studies have shown that learning to play a musical instrument helps brain development. This development includes: creative thinking, and motor skills. Music can also help kids become more active listeners along with enhancing their health and well-being. Overall, the skill will assist with creative thinking and in turn, can improve development in many other areas of their lives.

How do I pay?

Payments will be taken at the time of the lesson. I accept cash and card, however, I will not accept checks.
