Music stand

This item is a must have as the student develops their skills. The portable stand is not not only easy to transport, but it helps build proper form. (Link attached above)

Rosin helps the bow grip the strings. This is what produces the sounds. I have attached a link that shows you what the rosin looks like, however, you will not need 4. If you do choose to purchase this item from a different source, make sure it is designed for the instrument that you own.

Shoulder rest

I would recommend starting with a softer foam shoulder rest. This helps build the proper form. Windsmith offers free shoulder rests, so don't waste your money! Once your child has become more comfortable with the instrument, they can upgrade to sturdier shoulder rest.

tuning app

There are several free apps that you can upload on your phone. To this day, I still use one to make sure my instrument is properly tuned. I would recommend trying a few to see what works for you.

Suzuki Music Book

Suzuki was a musician, philosopher, and educator devoted to teaching the art of music. His book is well known around the world for its success. I would recommend purchasing the book that includes a CD. It is important that your child listens to the music that they are playing, however, the book itself will provide an amlpe amount of information.

Essential Elements Music Book

As per the description, The Essential Elements for Strings offers beginning students sound pedagogy and engaging music, all carefully paced to successfully start young players on their musical journey. I would recommend purchasing the book that includes a CD. Instrument

If you don't already have an instrument, you can rent one from a local music store. Along with many other items, Windsmith offers a variety of sizes for an affordable price. They can help you pick the right instrument for your child.

Fingerboard tape

Fingerboard tape is very beneficial when it comes to developing muscle memory in your left hand. If you want to measure and apply the tape by yourself, you can purchase a set of loose tape. If not, you can purchase preset tape for your instruments specific size. For more information on how to apply tape, please refer to my video, "How to put tape on violin fingerboard".
